This term we are going to be training for athletics which will be amazing! The real athletics will be held in week 3. If it rains, well then it will be in week 4 which I am so excited for! I hope you guys are too.
A few days ago the "AIA" healthy kids company came to visit our school. We were each given pedometers and have been challenged to do as much steps everyday that we can. The competition starts on the 26th of October. Each school in the whole of New Zealand will be competing. The winning school gets to have Huawei 50 tablets,1,000 dollars.Simply join the parents class team and get active with your child and you'll be able to go in the draw to win a Huawei P9 phone too.
Sadly Amber and Aaron have left =( They left last term on the last day where we watched movies and had snacks which were delicious. But we are all sad that Amber and Aaron have left.
This week we have started planting our very own seeds! 5 sprouted already on the 5th day, radish, rocket, cress, cabbage and broccoli. We water 3 times a day and keep in the classroom by the window so they get enough sunshine. We've all got names for ours like: Chris the cress, and Radishy the radish or even Larry leek or Dave the eggplant. Some's cardboard pots have even exploded because of the weight. We will keep you updated on what has happened so far. BY THE BLOGGERS :)
This term, there are 2 basket ball type things going on like the weekly basket ball matches and a tuesday tournament. The normal basket ball players (weekly) are being coached by different parent coaches like Mike (Sams dad) because jason has got meetings after school. The tournament people came 6th and the first game they played in they lost by 1 point. The final score was 28 - 29!
For this week's art we are doing olympic arts! By designing our own uniform for whichever country or sport we think we are best at! So just say i was from America and i thought i was best and sprinting, i would make a sprinting uniform designed for america. After that we have to make a model of ourselves in which position you would be in for your chosen sport. The reason for this is because we are going to hang up a giant model of us with olympic uniforms doing our favourite sport on the wall!
THANKS FOR READING:) So as many of the parents and kids know the speech competition. Our Kakapo finalists are Gala and Janessa. (BTW Photos will come)
Gala's speech was about " Why reading is crucial." Janessa's speech "Rascism." Janessa and Gala both said "The judge was only going for the larger schools like Te Aro, Mount Cook and 3 more" So this year we do this thing called D.I.R.T (Daily Independent Reading Programme) Rm 5 do a different programme. In it we have to read a book and put in our "Dirt" book (note books) so basically its a book diary. At the start of a new term the teachers choose 8 or 6 people to have pizza!! Dirt is extremely fun!
Davina is going to leave our school next and we have gotten a new one, his name is Tim Kong!! We have had a lot of fun with Devina. she was helping Mr. Du, we will miss her!!!!
For the past three weeks we have been doing this program called KIVA, it is about anti-bullying. It is a lot of fun. We are trying to encourage people to stop the bullying!
